Tips for Effective Dictation Practice in Spanish

To get the most out of our audio exercises, follow this proven method:

  • Listen first, write second: play the audio clip all the way through once without typing. Focus purely on understanding the general context.

  • Use the Speed Control: if native speakers talk too fast, don't get frustrated! Use the 0.75x speed option on our audio player to slow down the dictation and catch every single syllable.

  • Pause and transcribe: play the audio a second time, pausing after every few words to type what you hear. Don't worry about perfect spelling yet.

  • Focus on the details: play it a third time to check your work. Pay special attention to tricky characters like the "ñ", double "rr" and written accents.

  • Review the transcript: finally, reveal the correct answer and compare it with your text to identify your most common mistakes.
